How to Automate Auphonic Posting – Auphonic

In the Dog Days of Podcasting Facebook Group, there was a discussion about how to make it easier to post your podcast and level out your audio when joining multiple audio clips together. The person was confused so I am putting together this post so that there is a basic how-to.

The first thing you need to do is setup your services. As you can see, there is many options.

Here is what I have setup right now.

Next you build your presets. This makes publishing very easy. 

If you want Auphonic to automatically add your intro and your outro, upload the files to a place like Dropbox so that Auphonic can access the files. Then build your presets. 

Give it a name then select your intro and outro if you want it do that. It can also add in your metadata right away. I build mine so I just replace the xx with the current day. I also included my album art. 

I defaulted in my standard text so I have a constant template to start with. This will also go into WordPress automatically for me. You can have it create multiple output files. I have it create an MP3 and a WAV file. I leave the suffix empty so I can enter in the date (how I number my shows). I put in a Output File Basename for a file prefix. 

After you make your files, you need to determine where they go. That is the publishing section. I have the published file go to Archive.org and save a copy of the MP3 and WAV to Dropbox. The first service is what will get pulled into the WordPress Plugin.

Let’s go mobile now. In the app, you can either record directly in-app or bring in an audio file.

The process is simple. I, however, don’t pick the preset from the App. I didn’t like the lack of control on the file names or other aspects of the app. So instead I click on Upload and Edit. Back on the website, I’ll edit the production and choose my preset.

I first delete the title, then choose my perset.

After I assign the preset, I will finish filling out the remaining fields. Including the correct date for the filename.

This may seem like a lot of stuff to do, but short of the recording time, I can do the rest of this in about a minute or so after it is uploaded. Then I either wait or go into WordPress to finish the rest. I will post the WordPress side in the second part.
